Simile is the comparison of two unlike things using the words like or as
- Examples:
- He eats like a pig.
Fresh as a daisy
Comfortable as an old shoe

Metaphor: is the comparison of two UNLIKE things. We say one thing is another. A metaphor does not use like or as to make the comparison. Metaphors are used to help us understand the unknown, because we use what we know in comparison with something we don't know to get a better understanding of the unknown.
Examples:
She is a shining star in her class.
Jenna's mouth is one huge metal factory.
He has the heart of a lion.
